Spring & Summer 2020: theme and silhouette

It’s time to talk about trends at YLF. I reported on this earlier this week big seven trendsand entered Color and pattern Forecast. Today we come to topics and silhouettes. Remember that trends nowadays take years and even decades, and the most important thing is to do your own thing (DYOT). Some looks are mainstream while others are fringed. Choose from the buffet with trends and sporting goods what suits your taste Your Path.
You will find that many 90s looks come through. The early and mid 90s were a nice mix of 70s and 80s fashion, so you’ll also have fun flashbacks from those eras. If these looks are your favorite decades, milk them.

Long blazers

Blazer lengths that cover the bottom and hips and extend to the thighs are where they are right now. Styles are single-row and double-row and cannot be attached. The idea is to wear them with everything, i.e. dresses and skirts in different lengths, with long and shortened trousers and jeans with all kinds of silhouettes and also with shorts. Scrunch or roll the sleeves for the structure. A flipped contrast lining on the sleeve is a nice touch.

Bra Tops

This is not an underwear. It is a short tank top that looks a bit like a sports bra and is used as an overlay element under transparent tops, blazers, jackets or cardigans. The idea is to wear it with skyscrapers and a third piece so the effect is seductive yet pretty covert.

Transparent layers and crochet

Think liquid, tailored, box-shaped or billowing blouses, shirts, pullovers, T-shirts and tunics made of transparent fabric or crocheted knits. The idea is to put a tank or camisole under the sheer layer to achieve an interesting effect. You can put a jacket or cardigan over it to enhance the layered atmosphere. There are also crocheted dresses, shorts and skirts with lining.

Disco Collars

Hello 70s! Think Saturday Night Fever and you have the look. We will see pointed and wide disco collars on shirts, blouses and dresses. You can easily put them under jackets, cardigans and coats because the sleeves are streamlined. I suspect that this trend is very marginal.

Statement-Shirts

Note that Shirts are not blousesand this trend is about SHIRTS. We’re also not talking about essential, simple and classic button-down shirts. It is a bold shirt that makes a statement and is much more than simple. Think mullet shirts, tunic shirts with dramatic puff and smock sleeves, architectural shirts, wrap shirts, frill-point shirts, pirate shirts and poet shirts.

west

A vest is a short formal vest with front buttons that is worn over another layer such as a shirt, t-shirt, blouse, tank top, or dress. It is a traditional men’s garment and can be part of a three-piece suit. This way you can put a jacket over the property if you want. It’s usually tailor-made, although there are liquid versions. It can be worn unbuttoned or unbuttoned and is a marginal trend. It’s fun to wear sleeveless tops and dresses for summer.

Full length pants and shorts

The runways show full length pants AND shorts. Whole body pants are either very long and fly over or sweep the surface of the floor, or they are new and more practical shorter in full length, Cropped pants are cut between two and six inches above the ankle bone.
Fits are tailor-made, fluid and casual. Hems are regular, crumpled, frayed, desperate, tied up or rolled. Fabrics are hard, soft, stiff, architectural or flowing. Think of patterns and bodies and all sorts of casual and elegant representations. The hems are tapered or wide, but the silhouettes in the legs are more spacious when the hems are tapered.

Statement jeans

Designer collections show denim much more often than before, and none of the silhouettes are simple. Imagine jeans as a statement and not just as a simple must that steps into the background of the outfit. Jeans have waistbands, belts, pleats, irregular pockets, tuxedo trimmings, hem treatments, cuff treatments and other frills to make them stand out and look different from classic skinnies.

Safari chic

Think back to what Meryl Streep wore in the film “Out of Africa” and you are on the right track. Think jackets, shirts, shirt dresses, skirts, pants and shorts in the colors light brown, olive and khaki with useful details such as cords, tie belts, chinos, cargo pockets, carpenter loops, canvas belts, patch pockets and tortoiseshell trimmings. Complete the look with brown leather and earthy accents.

Midis and Maxis with movement

The skirt lengths are knee, calf and ankle covers. 95% of the silhouettes are A-lines and are exhibited in some way to facilitate movement. Many of the hems show an asymmetrical interest. Straight, pencil and figure-hugging skirts and dresses are few and far between, because it is about flow and movement. Tiered styles, bevel cuts, slip dresses, all sorts of pleats and slip skirts look pretty fresh.

Wide pants and skyscrapers

Pants and jeans are tailored with movements like bootcuts, spacious and very spacious pleated all the way down or up and tapered at the hems with plenty of liquid in the middle. Spacious straight legs or narrow, wide plants are popular and are cut off around the ankle or crunched over the ankle and are very long.
The climbs are high or very high. Waistbands end directly below, on or above the navel. Flat fronts are just as popular as folds and paper bags. The idea is to present the waist by stowing it, half stowing it, wearing a short top, or wearing a top or topper that is in the same position as the waistband of the bottoms.

Balloon trousers and jeans

These are pants with a higher rise, a tailored fit for the hips and bottom, a spacious leg fit that clumps away from the thighs, and hems that taper towards the leg. The waist can be straight or pleated. Lantern pants are a close cousin, but sometimes they’re not so structured in the crotch and hips.

Shorter tops and body-con tops

As the floors get wider and higher on the ascent, the tops become shorter and / or narrower so you can wear the two together with some structure. This is the opposite of the “Long Over Lean” look, which has been a benchmark for more than a decade.

Short shorts

Very short shorts covered the catwalks in countless representations. Baggy, tight, with a belt and straight across all types of colors, fabrics, solids and patterns. They were combined with short, flowing tops, spacious, short-cut tops, bra tops and casual shirts, blouses or T-shirts. Short shorts may be on trend right now, but we see them every season because they sell well in the United States, and especially among young adults.

Long shorts

Wooohooo! I love long shorts and it’s fun to see them come back in fashion. Long shorts have knee-length hems. This means that their hems end slightly above, on or just below the kneecap. Styles are baggy, fluid or tight, casual or elegant, pleated or straight at the waist and medium to high in the rise. They can be combined with almost any top, cardigan or jacket and worn with everything from glamorous heels and sandal boots to sneakers, flats, mules and sandals.

Tailoring and straight slouch

Today’s fashion is a wonderful mix of waist-defining, figure-hugging silhouettes AND unstructured waist-giving silhouettes. Beautiful tailoring, subtle fluidity, spacious fluidity and oversized sloppiness. So make your choice. Drape, architecturally drape or show the contour of your body the way you want it.

Sharp shoulders and swollen sleeves

The sharp shoulder of the 80s has been trendy for some time, but not as mainstream as it used to be. I’m not sure it will ever be mainstream again, but at least we have the option. Puff sleeves, gathered at the crown and tapered at the wrist, are mainstream and offer a much simpler silhouette in warm weather when you don’t need a jacket.

pantsuit

Dressing up with all kinds of pants silhouettes is huge and totally common in solids, micro-plaids, pinstripes, floral patterns or other patterns that stimulate your imagination. They consist of airy summer fabrics such as silk, cotton, rayon, viscose and linen blends. Some of the blazers are longer, but many are normal hip length. The idea is to wear a pant suit as a quick outfit in all possible environments with elegant heels, sneakers, oxfords, sandals, mules, loafers or elegant flats. Combine it with a t-shirt, blouse, shirt, bra top, silky camisole or cotton sweater. Wear a tailored suit or a more relaxed oversized suit.

Black from head to toe

Wearing black pieces or a dress with black shoes and a black handbag is as 90s as possible, and even I wore it in 1995. In my experience, it can look very flat and monotonous if there is little interest in text between the black components, so try creating outfit pizzazz with unusual fabric combinations and shiny embellishments. Throw in white shoes and a bag to break up the black. Sport Navy with black. Or wear a white-out that is the opposite side of the same coin.

Not neutral from head to toe

Choose a non-neutral color and wear it from head to toe or from head to toe. I wear shades of red and watermelons from head to toe and would like to do that with bright pink, turquoise, lemon, apple green and light blue. The hardest thing is to get the shoes the same color. So you really need to be committed to the non-neutral you choose to do sports with.

belt

There are so many belts on the runways that all highlight the waist. There are belt tops, jackets, gilets and coats. Skyscraper jeans and pants are worn with wide belts and the dresses are belted at the waist with a wide belt in the style of the 80s.
For my own style, I like everything to different degrees, but I will thank you for short shorts that are black from head to toe and bra tops. Pretty transparent layers, crochet tops in white or blue, statement shirts and jeans, long shorts, wide trousers and skyscrapers, midis with movement, not neutral from head to toe, summer trouser suits, puffed sleeves and balloon trousers Take a big thumbs up. I like both bespoke fits and straight slouch and maybe try sharp shoulders. And I LOVE wearing that new shorter full length flared trousers and jeans with flats or sneakers and a short or hidden top.
